Internship Details 

  • Duration:  May – August 2026 (flexible start/end dates) 
  • Location:  Main office / Field (varies by role) 
  • Compensation: $20–$25 per hour
  • Eligibility:  Currently enrolled in a college diploma or university degree program 
  • Reports To:  Role-specific Manager or Team Lead
Role-Specific Responsibilities 

Interns will be placed in one of the following areas based on their academic background, skills, interest and program availability. Each role is designed to provide meaningful, hands-on experience appropriate for a student currently completing a college or university program. 

1.  Trade Services Intern 

Ideal for students studying: Construction Management, Civil Engineering Technology, Skilled Trades, Project Management or related programs. 

As a Trade Services Intern at Byng you will gain hands-on experience supporting field operations and learning the fundamentals of trade services within a fast-paced, project-driven environment. You’ll work closely with experienced professionals, contribute to ongoing projects, and develop practical skills that will set a strong foundation for your career. 

Location: Main Office 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Assist with the coordination and scheduling trade partner meetings. 

  • Support the tracking of work progress using internal job management systems, flagging delays or issues to the team lead. 

  • Help prepare daily and weekly operational reports summarizing trade recruitment pipeline status. 

  • Assist with the review and basic quality checks of documentation, including trade payment details and completion of records. 

  • Participate in pre-job screening meetings and performance review discussions with project managers. 

  • Support the identification and tracking of issues related to trade services, following up with field teams and subcontractors as directed. 

  • Help maintain organized subcontractor records and assist with the filing and updating of compliance documentation. 

  • Take on ad hoc project coordination tasks as assigned by the Trade Services Development Manager during peak operational periods. 

2.  Accounts Payable (AP) Intern 

Ideal for students studying: Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or related programs. 

The Accounts Payable team is responsible for processing vendor invoices, maintaining supplier records, and ensuring accurate and timely payment across all Byng programs. As an AP Intern, you will gain practical experience in a fast-paced finance environment handling real transaction volume. 

Location: Main Office 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Assist with the review, coding, and entry of vendor invoices into the accounting system, ensuring accuracy against purchase orders and contracts. 

  • Support the matching of invoices to purchase orders and delivery receipts, identifying and escalating discrepancies as needed. 

  • Help maintain organized vendor files and ensure all supporting documentation is properly filed and accessible. 

  • Assist with the preparation of weekly payment run reports and help coordinate approval workflows for outstanding payables. 

  • Support month-end close tasks including reconciliation of AP subledger entries to vendor statements and follow-up on outstanding items. 

  • Respond to basic vendor inquiries under the guidance of the AP team, helping to resolve payment status questions and discrepancies. 

  • Help identify process inefficiencies and assist with documenting AP procedures and workflows. 

  • Assist with data entry, spreadsheet maintenance, and reporting using accounting software and Microsoft Excel. 

  • Support the finance team with any additional tasks or ad hoc analysis during peak period processing. 

3.  HR and Communications Intern 

Ideal for students studying: Human Resources, Communications, Business Administration, Marketing or related programs. 

The HR and Communications function at Byng supports talent acquisition, employee experience and internal and external communications. During the busy summer season, the team is actively onboarding new hires, managing employee programs, and supporting company-wide communications. As an HR & Communications Intern, you will contribute to all of these areas. 

Location: Main Office 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Support the full-cycle recruitment process including posting job openings, screening resumes, scheduling interviews, and coordinating candidate communications. 

  • Assist with onboarding new employees by preparing welcome packages, coordinating orientation logistics, and ensuring completion of required documentation. 

  • Help maintain and update employee records in the HRIS system, ensuring data accuracy and confidentiality at all times. 

  • Draft internal communications including announcements, newsletters, team updates, and policy reminders under the direction of HR leadership. 

  • Support the development and maintenance of HR resources such as job descriptions, organizational charts, and policy documents. 

  • Assist with employee engagement initiatives including coordination of recognition programs, team events, and feedback surveys. 

  • Help monitor and respond to the HR shared inbox, directing inquiries to the appropriate team member as needed. 

  • Support social media and employer branding efforts by drafting content and coordinating posts on LinkedIn and other platforms. 

  • Assist with tracking and reporting on key HR metrics such as headcount, turnover, and recruitment pipeline activity. 

  • Contribute to special projects related to culture, communications, or people programs as assigned. 

4.  Technology Analyst Intern 

Ideal for students studying: Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Business Technology Management, or related programs. 

Byng is in an active phase of technology modernization, implementing new platforms to improve operational visibility, reporting, and efficiency. The Technology Analyst Intern will support this transformation by assisting with system implementation, data analysis, and technology adoption efforts across the organization. 

Location: Main Office 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Support the configuration, testing, and rollout of new business applications and platform features being implemented across Byng operations. 

  • Assist with data migration activities including the extraction, cleaning, validation, and import of data between systems. 

  • Help develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and data exports using tools such as Excel, NetSuite, or the company's operational platforms including the use of A.I. 

  • Assist with user acceptance testing (UAT) by executing test cases, logging defects, and communicating results to the project team. 

  • Assist with the analysis of operational data to identify trends, inefficiencies, or opportunities for improvement. 

  • Support integrations between systems by helping to map data fields, validate outputs, and troubleshoot discrepancies. 

  • Contribute to special technology or digital transformation projects as directed by the IT/Technology team. 

  5.  Field Services Project Manager Intern 

Ideal for students studying: Project Management, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration or related programs. 

Field Services Project Managers at Byng are responsible for overseeing the end-to-end delivery of field deployment programs — from planning and resourcing through to completion and client reporting. As a Field Services PM Intern, you will work directly alongside experienced project managers on active programs, gaining direct exposure to how complex, multi-crew field projects are managed. 

Location: GTA, London, Ottawa

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Assist with the creation and maintenance of project plans, schedules, and tracking tools for active field deployment programs. 

  • Help monitor daily field production against targets, flagging variances and supporting the PM in developing recovery plans when needed. 

  • Coordinate with internal teams (Trade Services, Logistics, HR) to support resource planning and trades mobilization activities. 

  • Track project risks, issues, and action items using the team's project management tools, following up on open items as directed. 

  • Participate in project related calls, taking notes and distributing meeting minutes and action logs. 

  • Help maintain project documentation including contracts, change orders, site instructions, and close-out records. 

  • Support the analysis of field performance data to identify trends, productivity improvements, and operational insights. 

  • Assist with post-project reviews and lessons learned sessions, helping to document outcomes and recommendations for future programs.
